i am a cap/ wood "tiger lady".

i have read in several places that in china having children in the year of the tiger is discouraged for fear that one might have a girl. and that female tigers are hard to "marry off" and that when women are cold or bitchy or bitter or mean they are said to be "old tiger ladies".

i love being a lady tiger. i find myself the epitome of the feminine divine. warm and sensitive, honorable and just ,alluring and captivating, protective and domineering a born leader. i treat my subjects, suitors and captives with the utmost care grace and hospitality when in the tigresses layer, lol, HA HA HA. but seriously, i have had one ot two relationships where i could sense that the guy was intimidated by me and then i attempted to shrink so that he felt big and i could feel more feminine. yeah that worked for like five minutes, lol!!! i am now just being my passionate, assertive and regal self so that i can make room for the man who truly thinks enough of himself to handle comapanioning me. !!!! a Scorpio earth horse!!!! i just have two words...AHHHH, YUM!

oh and by the way, i tend not to do well with bosses or figures of authority in general unless they are clear that i am intelligent, sensitive , creative and amazing and give me trust, support and space to be that , you know?
from the time i was born i always considered my parents to be partners of mine ( maybe even my assistants) in my rearing. just change my diaper and feed me and keep any dingoes from eating me and i'll be grateful, but other than that i konw what i'm here to be and do.

Rat year is terrible for horses

It is said that horses will have a terrible time in the year of the rat, and coming from the Far East where most of the teachings on Chinese zodiac are usually taught in Mandarin, following that some of the predictions, etc still take on the traditional fatalistic tone (just as Western astrology has been at one time). Also when most of the knowledge has actually been translated from Mandarin to English, some of the tone and intention may get lost in translation.

I find it hard for fellow horses to figure out how to ride the wave (instead of resisting potential changes, etc then there will be conflict, etc).

Any opinions from horses or rats? Others?

My Relationship Disaster - Horse & Rat

Hi all, i'm new here, though I have been lurking for a week or so.

anyhow, I recently broke off with a female wood rat - December 12, 1984 (born in hour of rat and a sagitarrius).
I am a male earth horse - April 8, 1978 (born in hour of goat and a aries).

Our relationship start with fireworks as we were both immensely attracted to each other, she is absolutely gorgeous (i must admit, unfortunately).
She always seemed very sweet and loving and I actually thought she was very honest and sincere all the time. But little did I know she was the most persuasive and manipulative person I had ever met. I mean this girl was down right diabolical. I dont want to get into detail about what happened and how I came to discover her lying, scheming ways. Basically, she was seeing someone before she even started seeing me (i believe he was born in 1976, not sure what western sign he is). That wasn't it, i mean it was huge web of lies and all kinds of crazy stuff she did. Looking back now, I feel like I was totally controlled by this girl and was helped out by her evil sidekick (a female monkey born in '80). She seriously made me feel like a total loser and i was totally crushed and embarassed. The worst part was, she was able to look at my face and laugh about it and tell me what a loser I was and walk away. No apology and no nothing.
The other guy left her also, I believe but I am not completely sure. I think that the other guy hurt her when he dumped her, so that was a taste of her own medicine.

Are female rats generally this evil and manipulative?

The Tiger and the Snake

The Tiger wanted to play and be loved,
so did the Snake.

But the Tiger like all Cats is a bit ruff at times,

The Tiger was hurted by the Snake,

with all her might,

And there the Tiger and the Snake remained,
not knowing what to do next.

The Snake said to the Tiger that his cave
was not a good place for the Mighty and Holy Tiger.

The Tiger was also in Love with the Snake and tried
to make the Snake play like a Tiger, she wanted to
work it out with the Snake.

But the Snake knew deep inside that
he could never be like the Tiger, or the Tiger like the Snake.

Not until they both have passed the influence of the
seven and the twelve.

The Most High Love, who place us all,
where we need to be corrected the Tiger and
the Snake earthly paths.

But in his kindness the Most High Love
left his seeds inside the Snake and the Tiger.

INFLUENCE OF THE YEAR OF THE RAT (4706) ON SINOSTROLOGY SIGNS

The year 4706 in the Chinese lunar calendar – Year of the Earth Rat -- began on February 7th, 2008. In general we should find ourselves concerned with the economy since the Rat is known as a money lover and a collector. Much of the upcoming year will be spent paying attention to important details, especially in our financial affairs. However, not all signs will influenced in the same way, since some of them are compatible with the Rat while others are not.

The twelve signs of the Oriental zodiac, like the twelve signs of the western zodiac, are divided into four triangles of compatibility. The three members of each triangle share common personality traits. Therefore the signs of each triangle will have similar experiences during any given year. Keep in mind that the rising sign, determined by the hour of birth, strongly influences one's compatibility with other signs, therefore it must be considered to get a clear picture of the changes the upcoming year will bring. Here then are my expectations of the spirit and influence of the coming Year of the Rat on each of the members of the 4 triangles of compatibility.

TRIANGLE 1: RAT, DRAGON, MONKEY (the power signs)
These are the power signs. The Dragon has the power of the heroic heart, the Monkey is brain power personified, and the Rat is Mr. Intuition. Since the Rat is a member of this triangle and is extremely compatible and compassionate with the remaining two signs, people born in the year of the Rat, Dragon or Monkey will be propelled by positive forces and live through important life changes during the upcoming year. In particular, these essential changes should come during the months of the Dragon, the Monkey and the Rat whose western equivalents are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. Since the Rat is a money sign, the three members of this triangle should meet with no financial problems in the upcoming year. Actually, they may all find their financial affairs are in great shape by the end of it.

TRIANGLE 2: OX, SNAKE, ROOSTER (the inscrutables)
Here, we have the inscrutables . These three form a closed circuit. No other sign of the zodiac can truly understand or relate to these characters but they understand and relate to one another perfectly. Of these three, the Snake is the only one who will have a mildly positive year. This is because he is able to keep pace with the Rat as he runs his mazes. The Ox, who prefers to move slowly and carefully, will be pressured for time, for he will find he has too many things to finish in too little time. The Rooster, who operates strictly by logic and ancient tradition, will find this year causes him to worry about money more than usual. He is never comfortable running on instinct rather than detailed planning, so the year of the Rat will probably add wrinkles to his brow and silver to his hair. Things should go a little better for the Snake, the Rooster and the Ox during the months of Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, for these are the western equivalents of the Snake, Rooster and Ox.

TRIANGLE 3: TIGER, HORSE, DOG (the childlike players)
This is the triangle of childlike players. The Tiger, Horse, and Dog -- like children -- are always ready and eager to play. They integrate the spirit of a game into everything they do in life -- thus they generally make extremely good parents. None of these signs will have a particularly good year since they are not compatible with the Rat. Those born in the year of the Horse will have an extremely challenging time, since the Rat and the Horse are absolutely opposite in nature. These natives should pay careful attention to their physical health during the upcoming year, for it is said that the Horse will suffer physical injury during the year of the Rat. The best months for these three will be during Aquarius – the equivalent of Tiger; Gemini – the western equivalent of Horse; and Libra, the equivalent of Dog.

TRIANGLE 4: RABBIT, SHEEP, PIG (the peacekeepers)
The prime quality of these three is they do everything in their power to spend their lives living in harmony and peace with themselves and others. Not to say that they don't ever fight -- but when they do, it is only because they have no choice in the matter. In general, these natives will not experience too much hardship during the upcoming year of the Rat. However, they may be hassled by time pressure, since these three much prefer to take things at a leisurely pace rather than zoom around like "busy-back-soons". The western equivalents of these three are Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio, so these months will be easier on the Rabbit or Cat, Sheep or Goat, and the Pig or Boar.

On the world stage, since Israel was "born" in the year of the Rat, so there will be many interesting and probably scary changes there and in the Middle East as a whole. The United States, a Fire Monkey country will hopefully also go through positive changes. Here's hoping Americans smarten up and elect Barack Obama. Québec, my homeland, also a Monkey society, will likewise experience social progress and evolution.

Every site on Chinese Astrology I've visited so far says that every day is divided into 12 parts,and the exact same couple of hours are governed by the exact same sign every day. Clear, so far.
But I could never get why the hour of birth is to be considered at local time. If the same sign-say Rooster-always governs the 17:00-19:00 interval, shouldn't it be the same, regardless of what corner of the world u were born in?
It would make sense to me that the hour of birth be converted into universal time, before checking the Chinese Horary Ascendants Table. Same hours means the same day for everyone. Any thoughts?

I was born March 12,1955 8:30 AM pacific time
I'm a 52 year old Wood Sheep, in terms of compatibility are these questions related. I see I was born in the year element of wood but the sheep’s general element is earth. How do these conflicting elements work in any potential relationships and what’s the stronger element in this case? I have been told that the best relationship for me is water or fire rabbit or pig. That doesn’t leave much room in who’s best available for me except a 44 year old woman. I was told wood isn’t a good match for wood as it’s the same but I have read on a post that that might not be a clash or conflicting and might be good, so is there a problem with similar elements i.e. wood and wood? what are everyones ascendants? as in the animal aspect according to the hours of birth, which some would say is more accurately described as the shadow self as opposed to the classical western concept of the ascendant

For example, I was born between 11 PM and 1 Am, the hours of the Rat, so I'm a Tiger/Rat, which is why I hope to fare better than most Tigers in the year of my archnemesis the Monkey, since Rats are part of a friendship/compatability trine with the Monkey and the Dragon. Knowing your ascendant helps in relationships too when you know the others ascendant.

I have this old book about chinese astrology,that,in addition to the monthly and horary ascendants,speaks about a "millennial ascendant"...or something like that.
In the book there is a page to help u calculate it;it's divided into 3 columns:
-the one on the left shows the months of the year,with all the dates,
-the one on the middle is divided into 2:on the right,the ascendant,and on the left,the midheaven(the chinese signs,enumerated),
-the one on the right shows the hours of the day.
You're supposed to unite your approximate day of birth,from the left column,with your hour of birth,on the right column.The place where the line intersects with the middle-column is supposed to point out your millennial ascendant and midheaven.

I'm a Water Rat with Dog rising, and I had a relationship with a (Wood? She was born 1974...) Tiger with Dragon rising. Also, I am Cancer with Leo moon, and Aquarius rising, while she is a Virgo (very near the Libra cusp) with Scorpio moon, and Libra rising. The relationship is over, but I loved her dearly. They say Rat and Tiger don't mix well, but I find that I enjoy the company of other Tigers too (the others only on a friendship basis, she's the only Tiger I've been romantic with).

So I'm wondering, does anyone have any insights as to why I might be predisposed towards Tigers? Does anyone have any advice concerning Rat/Tiger relationships (romantic, friendship, business, or otherwise)?

I find that normally I am pretty secretive, and reclusive, and that being around Tigers causes me quite a bit of anxiety. I appreciate the influence though, because the chaotic and spontaneous actions of the Tiger cause me to do things I wouldn't normally do, things I would normally only daydream about. I think it's more than worth the anxiety in the end.

Tigers Monkeys Dragons Dogs

I am A fire tiger virgo who has a water tiger scorpio mother who has married an earth monkey capricorn. In my years of observing i have come to notice certain patterns between my friends and family. As a fire tiger i have had the privlage to experience friendships with earth dragons through school. these people helped me to try and look through my hate for my mothers husband... perhaps because i am a tiger virgo it made me a better intelectual candidate to keep up with the dragons and even inovate there philosophy on life with my experiences. Ironically they didnt give me direct help when i told them my situations, instead they just showed me a simplar way of looking at problems before i deal with them. Now the catch is ive come to notice trends in certain signs and what ive notcied is...

Tigers are very keen when it comes to who should get attention and what kind of attention should be given... But we also like the spotlight... we always accept a challenge no matter how big or how little, and at the same time we will turn away a sure thing just because we dont wanna. Now the monkey paradox is that, they usually dont like people who dont like them, or there sense of humor. wich tigers a)dont like impolite people b)usually judge a person on charecter. And i find a monkeys charm consist of pointing fingers at other problems. Whilst a tiger charm is best used to get him/her outta trouble, into trouble, and get something they feel they deserve. now a dragon goes well with a moneky because of there fondness of objection to any situation if it "comes up". a dog goes well with a tiger because everything is based around mutual respect, diginity, integrity and a light heartedness over any problem.

So as a fire tiger virgo watching my water tiger scorpio and earth moneky capricorn step dad i can say, the first couple years were border line ok... then the attention spands started to go and friendships were being lost along with common decency when it came to "disputes". i would only recomend tigers and monekys sseeing eachother if they have self discipline on each side and have many good friends they can escape to if they need to clear there head. the monkey will b wary of the tigers friends and tigers wont care because the monkeys will sneak around it. i almost recomend a good dragon friend to settle the disputes because they are really the only ones that can cleary and efficiently get through to monkeys, the only catch is the tiger might not like the treatment and attention that might come there way from the debates. And as a bonus to water tigers vs firetiger..... i can say water tigers "dont be an emotional leech to any fire sign !" and respect our space ;). a bonus would be not envolving themeselfs in everything there firesign companion is doing or thinking!

Hi everybody!

Chinese astrology is so much fun. I have been studying western astrology for about 12 years, but I have recently discovered eastern astrology. And thanks to this message board, I have found it is delightfully complex! (you know how we Monkeys just love complexity :)

I have a pressing compatibility question, maybe you guys can help me out with it....

So far I have learned that Monkeys and Dragons are highly compatible, as far as the years are, anyway. I don't have a birth time for the person in question, but I looked up the birthday and found these stats:

Hour:Male Soil Brown Rat
Day: Female Metal White Snake
Month: Female Water Black Snake
Year: Male Fire Red Dragon

My own stats....

Hour: Male Earth Brown Dragon
Day: Female Earth Brown Rabbit

Fire-snake in 2007?

Howdie everyone, up to my 1st post :)

Last year wasn't exactly a blast! Therefore I wonder a bit much what's in for 2007! With familar decisions which could really make me or break me I'd prefer some advice from the stars but I find it very hard to find an answer on the web, many sites tell different stories, mainly asking myself if i'd rather be passive or active. Since as a snake I can be pretty impulsive when the heart gets pumpin hehe, isnt always good, escpeccially last year I'd wished I had reacted more passive in general.

According to 1 site atleast I know my lucky element is Metal. There fore I'd love to know if living in germany is all that good of an idea since I read in another post that countries/regions have elements attached, does anyone know this info or where to find it?

I'm born at PST+1 on 6th of jan 1978 appr. 6:40 AM, beleave making me a Yin Fire-snake, some sites tell me for yin it wouldnt be all that bad this year, question mainly so is how or where to find out what the year beholds for me?

I'd be othermust thankfull for all input :)

I've just dated a Pig / Pisces guy. Lately something happened that really pissed me off! I like him because I thought he is honest and kind and he told be that he is not attached, but lately a girl (my boyfriend's colleague) told me that she is actually his girlfriend! But according to my boyfriend he said she is a foreigner who came to work in Singapore that's why he help her to cope with all the language barrier and culture and because of her very emotional and sensitive character, he do not wish to hurt her. He wanted me to explain to this girl that there is actually nothing going on between me and him! How ridiculous! However, I did what he told, the girl is alright now but my heart is aching....

looked up chinese astrology in the encyclopedia and it has to do with 60 year cycles. feels a little more earthy because it is not so focused on constellations such as astrology. when i visited the encyclopedia though, i saw about ten or so astrologies to look at. where to begin? in situations like this, i would say, read something, and i did.

my heaven element is wood. my combination element is water. i know this because my year ends in four. had to double check because the chinese calendar is different than the gregorian calendar. i knew to scrutinize because i would feel like a block head if i kept going on and on in self study and i had the wrong elements.

like some astrology, one has their sign and some other signs and influences but to begin, i will stick with my sign, tiger. rat and cat got on ox to cross the river to get to the new land of the animals. this is because they are the worst swimmers. rat wanted to be animal two because ox had the win on being animal one so rat pushed cat into the water. cat is after rat for this one. tiger shows up later as the third animal and complained to the emperor about swimming against currents. there is some truth in there that i felt but i started laughing very hard thinking about the animals and what a focused but not enjoying it tiger would look like swimming and emerging with wet fur.

the element wood puts me at liver and gallbladder. that makes sense, i follow no diet guidelines but my own. the third trine is tiger, horse, and dog. i understand horses and dogs pretty well, the actual animals, even though i have no need to ride one or master one. never seen a tiger except on television documentaries. very physical animals. also, the third trine animals follow the beat of their own drummer. i think my beat is a steady cymbol tap with thunk bass and real basic held notes with interesting patterns and then, break, you don't hear anything, and then it goes back on.

homebody earth sheep needs help!

Hi all, I'm a 27-year-old earth sheep and it seems I'm finding it harder and harder to meet new people to date. Roars to you chinese astrology tribe. I was noticing the absence of Patrick and the deluge of requests piling up. And now it hasbeen raised in the Ask Patrick thread. I believe he is the unsubscribed one. I also noticed no activity from the moderator aleXa to direct traffic, deal with any posts or stimulate conversation. I sense a vacuum and hope this tribe can avoid being sucked under. I find this an interesting subject and have learned a thing or two from the study of it. I have a few reference books and could contribute from time to time. But I don't want to field any and all requests as Patrick did and I would encourage all to learn about their signs from the wealth of info already available, rather than ask lazy questions and be provided with quoted answers. It is an intuitive science with personal connections and answers. I have learned much about myself by exploring the way of the Dragon, how water has played it's part and how the minor signs have tempered my essence. I guess I write this post to see if there is energy in this tribe and if there is an interest in keeping it healthy and useful,. and if so are there suggestions and/ or proposals on how best to do so????...............with all due respect for you animals out there.............emptycloud

When you clue in some one to their animal sign. They've gone through 40 or 60 years of life not knowing the why, to so many relationships with nature. Then you give them an "Ah" moment. I just did it to a dragon whom I recently started working with cause she wondered why we got along so well. I shared a few of my books and welcomed her to the family Draco. She found herself amazed at the accuracy of her metal dragon condition. Now she is exploring it in relationship to her world and sharing it with others. I think if everyone knew what animal they were there could be peace and co-operation in the world. I know my wood horse needs special care and feeding. I never expect her to fly free of limitations as I can being a water dragon. A Loving Roar to you all whatever you be..............e

I started looking into my chinese astrology fairly recently, and it was new news to me to discover that there's more to it than just your animal sign. Would someone be oh so kind as to tell me what it means to be born September 29th, 1986, at 6:00 pm central time?
I know by the sign according to my year, I'm a fire tiger, but the rest, and the significance is beyond me. If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it, because I am sort of curious.

I recently rearranged my entire life because I fell in love with a sheep..we were good friends..i had had a long-standing crush that sorta reached a breaking point...and now i live with him...it is really fun. We really like each other alot. We are much better friends even, now that we are no longer platonic.
