Okay, I found out this of myself

Year of the Wooden Ox (1985)
Month of the Metal Dragon (May 8th) also a Taurus in personality
Day of the Fire Sheep (awwwwww)
Hour of the Wooden Dragon (7am born apparently)

I was wondering if someone could give me a description of a personality based on these factors.

If somebody summarizes this up and it sounds a lot like me 1, I'll be most impressed and 2, I will be a bona fide believer in Astrology.

I'm willing to believe the year sign because I am a natural loner in life but that could also be my Taurus Sun, Capricorn moon combo.

Misconceptions about Compatibility

When I came to this tribe, I found that a lot of people were focusing on only one or two things about compatibility; mainly, clash of animal sign in the year pillar... which really isn't doing Chinese astrology justice, and I am worried that people are being led to stereotype against one animal sign or any other signs.

Let me establish a few basic grounds:
- Yang (Positive) and Yin (Negative) = completion; same elements push each other away.
- Five elements = Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water; divided into yang and yin elements
- Each element has a parent, friend, child, wealth, and a controller.
- Each person has 4 pillars upon birth = Year, Month, Day, and Hour.
- The element on top of the Day pillar (above the animal) is self; the core. The year usually represents the first defense, the face we show everyone, and it goes more in-depth closer to the person's self as it gets closer to the self.
- Reading a chart for a man is different from a woman, and elements represent different things to a man as it does a woman.

Some people are born in season, some are born out of season, some are born with lots of siblings/friends and not enough wealth, and some are born with a lot of wealth, but not a lot of siblings. Some have a lot of parent elements in their charts, some have a lot of output elements in their charts. Some are born with a wet cold chart, some are born with a dry hot chart, some are born with warm chart, some are born with cooler chart. Some have a lot of yang element, some have a lot of yin element. Some may be entirely yang, some may be entirely yin. Some are born as "weak," some are born as "strong," and the 10 year luck period determines how one's life will be in terms of luck given to that individual (these are all in relation to elements).

There are what's called "normal" charts, which require balancing of the 5 elements, and then there are crazy "abnormal" charts, where due to a severe imbalance, must be interpreted differently, not for balance.

Furthermore, compatibility isn't something that where two people meet, they'll just have good times, get married, and live happily ever after. People who have bad compatibility with each other can fall in love with each other and then live a perfectly happy life, and a couple with "perfect compatibility" can get divorced. every 10 years, every 5 years, and every year, month, day, and hour, situations change, and lucks change. Thus those with perfect compatibility may meet bad situations that drive them apart, and those who supposedly have bad compatibility with each other may end up in good situations that bring them together. The key is "working problems out together," in any situations.

Why do I say all these? It means that even if they're perfect for each other, it may not be, and even if they're not perfect for each other, they may indeed be. Even clashes are not bad; they merely denote change. Keep that in mind.

Now, (as an example) I was reading one post about a guy here, who was complaining that his girlfriend cheated on him and it hurt him... and he was asking if all " ___ rat" women were like that. Of course not, and no, I'm not defending a rat because I am one; I merely want to say there is no "bad" person if you really understand Chinese astrology, just "bad decisions", and "bad circumstances."

I'd probably look to his chart to see whether he has an excess element that was of the same element as himself, and how many of the "wealth" element he had in his chart. Why? If he has not a lot of wealth element (which is the element he controls) and a lot of "friend" element, then it will be likely that he ends up fighting over a limited resource against his peers. Now when I say peers, it doesn't have to be someone he knows. It just has to be another "male". To a man, the wealth element represents money and women. If you don't have a lot, naturally it's very important, but if you have a lot of "friend elements", they want a piece of that too, so you end up fighting over it.

It seems like she was cheating on him, which means another element (let's say his daymaster element was metal; if he has a lot of metal, but not a lot of wood element, then he would be "fighting" with the other metals to stake clam against the one wood element). If he was the only metal element, and he was born in spring, so he has a lot of wood element, then he's too weak to handle all the "wealth and women", so he "can't effectively manage" them, which would then require his other "metal" friends to come and help him (who comes and goes is determined by the 10 year luck periods). Which means until that element came, he probably wouldn't find himself a girlfriend because it's not favorable to his health.

I would then look to the woman's chart to see whether she had an excess of the "controlling" element. Let's say she was born on the day of earth element; then the controlling element would be wood; if she was born at the time when wood was strong, and there were many wood elements in her chart, it denotes that a lot of men would naturally try to get her; there are a lot of men in her life. It also means that because there are so many of them, not one of those "wood" element is really special to her. I'm not saying what she did was right, but that we need to look through many different lenses to understand each other.

The scary thing about Chinese astrology is that it will tell you if someone will steal your girlfriend/boyfriend, it will tell you if you'll be wealthy/poor, if you'll be good at school/or bad at school, and it will tell you if you'll have a good family life or not quite well.

But that doesn't mean any one person is born "bad." They may be born into an unfavorable condition, or they may be experiencing a bad luck period or year in regards to that element; clashes work in this manner; if you were in a bad situation and there is a clash, if it's positive it can break that bad situation; if negative, it can worsen the bad situation. I'm not saying anyone should just accept their four pillars as it is and get depressed that they'll never find the one, or that they'll always lose their girlfriend/boyfriend to someone else, but I think it is important that one realizes what elements are good for them, be more aware of what they have and what they do not have, so they can behave in a manner that won't be hurtful to another person, because Karma is very much in play here (although not quite in the same wording).

It may be possible that "in the next life," the cheating woman may end up as an earth element surrounded by lots of earth element, and one or no wood in her chart; then she'll end up having to fight over that one wood against all the other earth elements. Or even in this life, depending on strength of her element, she may not be able to handle it and lose it, or become too strong so the balance breaks.

Compatibility between two people is always very fickle, changing with years, months, and decades.

Let's look at the animals then.
There are 12 animals (we all know of them), they all have certain elements assigned to them (with other elements hidden in the stems). There are trines and squares:

Fire Trine: Tiger, Horse, Dog
Wood Trine: Pig, Rabbit, Sheep
Water Trine: Monkey, Rat, Dragon
Metal Trine: Snake, Rooster, Ox

A lot of people go by this trine for compatibility; but let's say a person is an earth element (with no other earth element), sitting on monkey, rat, dragon trine. This person has a lot of water (wealth), but he's weak, so he needs something to break it. What would he seek? He'll probably find someone with the fire trine animal in their charts because fire trine animal will clash against the water trine, break up the water trine, and warm up his chart, strengthening it. Technically, it's not a "good compatible situation," from animal purely, but that's what this person needs to balance himself out.

It's not the same for everyone because there are so many different charts out there. Now let's look at the clashing animals:

"Cant' stay still" Clash: Tiger, Monkey, Snake, Pig
"Lover" Clash: Rat, Horse, Rabbit, Rooster
"Thinks too much" Clash: Ox, Sheep, Dragon, Dog

the names in the "" is something I made up for easier understanding. "Can't stay still" animals move around a lot; people with these move around a lot; people in these animal periods may find themselves moving around a lot. If there are animals clashing those, then one may lose through "moving around so much". "Lover" animals tend to be attractive to the opposite sex, but it also brings in a lot of trouble in terms of love (all's fair in love and war; in their case, love = war, their entire life). "Thinks too much" animals... think too much; these are the four earth elements which are "graveyards" of different elements, and when there's a clash for these, it's like having an earthquake, and depending on which animals clash and what elements pop out of the "graveyards," it will have those effects.

In the above example, I think the man was born in the year of the horse, the woman the year of the rat; so let's look only at that; they obviously are attractive to each other ("lover" clash), but are they necessarily good for each other? It depends on whether this clash produces an element favorable to both people involved. It may have been that the element resulting from the clash wasn't good for either people. People cheat on others usually because they don't think they're getting "what they need" out of the relationship, I think... there are other reasons, but it may be that the clash didn't produce an element beneficial to both charts, but harmed it (as the result shows), but now, I'm only focusing on the year, which means there was a clash that may have ruined their "face". Obviously in-depth analysis would be better, but I don't have that information... and I think this is already in depth enough to explain the system to certain extent. Clash isn't bad; it just says that they may experience a lot of changes while they're with this person because they shape each other. This can be bad or good depending on one's chart, so looking at animal and determining on spot whether this person is good or bad for me is not good.

Not a lot of people are born with a perfectly balanced chart (element or living situations), which is why so many people "seek someone else" to balance their own chart out. That person may be in a "clashing" situation, or it may be that the person trines another element; but what is important is that no matter what happens, the "I (the self)" focus on bettering oneself, after it's all said and done, learn lessons and find someone who is a better fit, with the thought in mind that no one is perfect for each other without effort.

I hope I explained at least basically why judging based on one animal on the year pillar is not accurate and superficial at best. :)

Pillar question from a water dog!

Do you look more to day or year for personality? Also i was told the 1977 fire snake and 1980 metal monkey were my most compatible...any reason why? As i would've thought the tiger or horse would've won?

Compatibility between a Fire Horse and a Metal Rat

Hi, I am new to this site and would appreciate any replies. I am a fire horse born 11/11/1966 and I am currently seeing a metal rat born 1/29/61. (Even though he was born in 61, he's a Rat because his birthday is prior to Feb 4th). Anyway I am aware that Rats and Horses are a notoriously bad match. I have an aunt that is a Rat and she literally gives me a headache every time I see her she’s so intensely mean, but I am extremely attracted to this guy. We have a very passionate relationship and always feel the need to be physically close even if it is not sexual. He easily opens up to me, which he says is surprising to him. The problem is I feel as though I am being had for some reason. He seems sincere, loving, open and affectionate one minute and the next thing I know I feel as though I am talking to my business associate. I immerse myself in a relationship so I cannot afford to stay involved with someone who is insincere or a game player. What gives? Does anyone know about what kind of compatibility exits between a Metal Rat and a Fire Horse? I’m about ready to trot along.

My Relationship Disaster - Horse & Rat

Hi all, i'm new here, though I have been lurking for a week or so.

anyhow, I recently broke off with a female wood rat - December 12, 1984 (born in hour of rat and a sagitarrius).
I am a male earth horse - April 8, 1978 (born in hour of goat and a aries).

Our relationship start with fireworks as we were both immensely attracted to each other, she is absolutely gorgeous (i must admit, unfortunately).
She always seemed very sweet and loving and I actually thought she was very honest and sincere all the time. But little did I know she was the most persuasive and manipulative person I had ever met. I mean this girl was down right diabolical. I dont want to get into detail about what happened and how I came to discover her lying, scheming ways. Basically, she was seeing someone before she even started seeing me (i believe he was born in 1976, not sure what western sign he is). That wasn't it, i mean it was huge web of lies and all kinds of crazy stuff she did. Looking back now, I feel like I was totally controlled by this girl and was helped out by her evil sidekick (a female monkey born in '80). She seriously made me feel like a total loser and i was totally crushed and embarassed. The worst part was, she was able to look at my face and laugh about it and tell me what a loser I was and walk away. No apology and no nothing.
The other guy left her also, I believe but I am not completely sure. I think that the other guy hurt her when he dumped her, so that was a taste of her own medicine.

Are female rats generally this evil and manipulative?

Hi, I am new here and was reading the posts relating to the rat and horse relationship. I am a wood rat and i am currently in a relationship with an Earth Horse. His family is very superstitous and they have been checking out mine and his chinese compatibility. Everyone tells me that in Chinese Astrology this is the worst pair possible..I will admit that i have been to see one of those fortune telling people and she pretty much confirmed what i thought..How serioulsy should i take this belief?. We clicked and hit it off straightaway and i feel so happy when i am around him. His so caring and makes me feel really special. We do have a history, but in the long term is this not going to work out?

"Life" and "Conception" Pillars

I have been using a four pillars software and I don't know what the "Conception" and "Life" pillars mean. For that matter, I'm not sure what the ascendant and month is supposed to tell about your personality either - is it how you are at certain stages in your life?

As I understand it, the "conception" pillar is problematic since it is calculated by moving the month stem upwards by one (Wu Earth to Ji Earth, in my case), and the month branch upwards by three (Tiger -> Snake), and this - referring to the month pillar 9 months ago - is *not* necessarily the date you were conceived in the literal sense.

I couldn't find much on this on the internet or any book, so if anyone knows, drop me a line.

Anyway, my results:

Conception: Ji Earth Snake (Si)
Hour: Ren Water Dragon (Chen)
Day: Xin Metal Pig (Hai)
Month: Wu Earth Tiger (Yin)
Year: Geng Metal Horse (Wu)
Life: Ding Fire Pig (Hai)

This is my first posting here!! I'm a divorced mother of 2 and for the first time in many years my heart is set fluttering by a man i've met. Water Ox between a Metall Rat and a Water Pig....

Hey

I am a Water Ox, Single Mum and just came out 2 years ago of a troubled 12 years relationship with my ex husband, Tiger! Still having troubles with each other though....

I then meet a man, wasnt really looking for one but somehow his charm got me at first. He is a Metall Rat. Very charming (!) if he wants too, bit of a ladies man (loves to look at ladies (probably more then other man I know, and more obvious as well, as well as ladies feel attracted to him because he is so charming..lol) Dont say he is cheatting though!! But we got some arguments bout it as I think he can do, check out ladies when I am not standing besides him...

However, we have had a few heated arguments, probably too heated for me! He can be quite explosive, and then watch out! Trying to level him down then doesnt work as easy and due my child being with me, this is a big problem for me!

I also think that he is an oppurtunitist and quite greedy! He never has money anyway as a ordinary 9-5 job is not his thing. He is probably more the free spirit, fun, talkative but at the same time expects discipline from others, even though he is laking in that himself. Can be quite loud which I dont like either.

We have some good times, I like that you can have lots of fun with him, his a good listener etc. He is loyal and he doesnt talk our problems through with his mates (like my ex husband did, not loyal at all) but we have also A LOT OF arguments. Certainly isnt boring...

However, I meet also another man, we are just friends now. He is a water pig. More the private type, can be cheecky too if he knows you he opens up, but generally first with strangers he is private and doesnt say's too much.

He is great with kids and has great manners. Seems to be very respectfull and can also admitt when he did wrong. Considered would be the word I guess. He is working like everyone else and even though a few years younger then me, has achieved allready a lot. Whilste the rat man, (older then me), still has not achieved much really...

Sounds all very materialistic I know....I am not really, i think is that "security factor" of the ox comming out here...

Seems that I have to decide between adventorous and fun and down to earth and secure....

So I am really confused...and being out of that Tiger relationship a troubled relationship isnt really what I am after....

wood tigers and metal monkeys

I have recently met a beautiful metal monkey woman and wanted to find out more about the compatibility of a metal monkey and me the wood tiger. It seems just on our second time of coming together we had a conflicting encounter (actually it was more due to text messages which followed it) but we seem to have a very strong magnetic charge between us. I know, text messages should not be used for sharing feelings (well I especially know that now) but we seem to have gotten through the conflict which resulted from this miscommunication. I know everyone here likes to find who is compatible with who but I'm more interested in finding out more of the school of thought behind the whole concept..

Apparently, I've been told that the whole symbolism of the dragon in chinese culture is partly to do with the ley lines in the earth.

This is also connected to the energies in the earth when we are born that plays a part in our personality traits.

This is very interesting information I've been hearing and if this is true, the Chinese astound me with the things they know.

I can't help but feel that over time, we've started getting the concept of chinese astrology a bit wrong.

I've done studying and have seen numerous websites speaking about chinese astrology but then I've also found websites and videos where chinese scholars in the subject explain it differently and make it sound more realistic.

Then I spoke to my dad who mentioned something about Ley Lines and how they also play a part in how the chinese came to figuring it out.

It's also connected with chakras and acupuncture as similar schools of thought.

I'm willing to bet not many people here will have a clue where I'm coming from too....

Tiger lady helping Snake lady

I am a fantastically combustible Tiger (with two Horses and a lone Boar). I met a wonderful Snake lady (with a Snake, Rabbit, and Sheep) via the internet who is having a hard time.

She complains that her family holds her back from all of her dreams and that they keep her practically a prisoner in her own home. I have told her that she is welcome to stay in my care for a while until she can take care of herself again, but we both know full well that all of our signs are ridiculously at odds.

What can we do to try and and minimize conflict? I know that we tigers often can over do it for those that we care for, and that I may have bitten off more than I can chew by taking her in. What can a Tiger do to make a Snake feel more comfortable in a lair ruled by two TIgers? (My mate of many years is a Tiger as well)

All I can say is that she must be pretty desperate to try her hand with us!

Snakes and Scorpios

I know they all say the Snake is the Chinese equivalent of Taurus-which I don't really agree with, but it appears to be true in terms of compatibility.

I mean I think the Snake of the Chinese Zodiac is a lot more on the "mystical" side of life than Taurus is. Taurus is purely prosaic by nature, whereas Snakes are drawn towards depths and mysteries and are known to be one of the most profound signs of the Chinese Zodiac.(though it's amazing how Snake men and Taurus men both come across as born womanizers)

But anyway, if we were to agree that the Snake is indeed the Chinese equivalent of Taurus, and Scorpio of the Pig, as they all say, that would mean those born in the year of the Snake have a natural affiliation for those born in Scorpio, since those would have a Pig monthly ascendant.Right?

I wonder if that explains my occasional attractions towards Scorpio Tigers, despite the total lack of common points between Snakes and Tigers.

What do you think? Any experiences?

I was born a little after midnight in August. But in "real time" I would have been born the day before, a little after 11 pm.

In western astrology, this is accounted for, but what about in Chinese astrology? Would my day animal & element be calculated for the time my birth was recorded, or would I rectify -1h for the DST issue?

I often wonder about that in numerology as well. and the "these people were born on so-and-so date" kinds of things.

Hi everybody!

Chinese astrology is so much fun. I have been studying western astrology for about 12 years, but I have recently discovered eastern astrology. And thanks to this message board, I have found it is delightfully complex! (you know how we Monkeys just love complexity :)

I have a pressing compatibility question, maybe you guys can help me out with it....

So far I have learned that Monkeys and Dragons are highly compatible, as far as the years are, anyway. I don't have a birth time for the person in question, but I looked up the birthday and found these stats:

Okay, I definitely believe in Western Astrology.
I am a Taurus sun capricorn moon. I don't believ in all the other planets as I can't find a correlation I can agree on but I know for sure the sun and moon combination shows undeniable patterns in people.
I love Scorpio women (Christy Hemme, Rebecca Romijn and Radha Mitchell) and Cancerian Moon women are beautiful (Christy Hemme again, Bridget Fonda and Rebecca de mornay). This is enough for me to believe it in itself.

So in Chinese astrology I am a Wood Ox. Apparently its like a flexible version of a Taurus that likes to expand and grow.

for me there are too many factors about people and relationships to start believing this too. Genetics play a part, as well as culture and upbringing.

So, peeps, give me some examples of compatibility in Chinese Astrology and I can see if they match with people I get along with in real life.

If I see some patterns and good examples, I'll take the Chinese zodiac seriously. Apparently I get along with a Water Pig but I need some help here guys and gals.

Dragon Question

I keep on running into Dragons, and was wondering what that might imply. It seems that allot of dragons are attracted to my personality. I am a Wood Oxen myself, being that wood rules over the Dragon might be a reason why.

Are Dragons intrigued by opposition? I was reading that it is impossible to win an argument with a Dragon, and that they intimidate anyone who challenges them.

I have been told by a couple of my Dragon buds that I am the only person who can put them into their place. I don't back down. Oxen will never be intimidated by opposition. We are both signs of power. It is in this that seems to be the attraction~ I am like the turtle diving into the Ocean to reach the mud on the bottom. I do give wonderful sound personal advice, and am straight forward. It seems as they pour their hearts out to me, and trust my judgment.

What message/lesion could Dragon be trying to teach me? Or vice versa?

These two signs don't really get compared too much. From what I read.... both of them are creatures of the Water. The Dragon rules over China, and the Ox rules over southern Asia..... like India for instance. Dragons seem to promote me in being more expressive.

And one more note.... Wood Dragons specificity..... Woah, what a trip! Too bad we are so far apart in age. They tickle me. Have gotten into 2 intense relationships with them. They are full of knowledge, and wisdom.

I always thought that years that end in 0, 1 are Metal, those that end in 2, or 3 are Water, 4, or 5 are Wood, 6, or 7 are Fire, and 8, or 9 are Earth.

But now I bought this book that states 1989 was the year of the Wood Snake. At first I thought it was a printing error, but then I checked other signs and neither were in the order I knew them to be. 1988 was the year of the Wood Dragon, 1965 the year of the Fire Snake etc, etc..

It doesn't explain why, but I'm thinkin' the chick that wrote it must've been totally out of it...or? Dunno. What do you know about the elements?

I have been around astrology since I was a teenager and studied it in part time while wicca was the craze in the early 1970s. I have really heard it all and studied everything in depth.
Know what I found? You can say this is good that is bad or vice versa or whatever until your head spins and STILL be no closer to the truth. The TRUTH as far as I am able to discern is that we should all know our OWN signs and interactions as best we can for our own information. As far as this sign gets along with this sign not that sign etc, what I have found that with emotional growth everyone can usually get along with anyone. Put more precisely, western astrology as far as i can see is best used to describe the individual personality COMBINED with the eastern sign. For instance I am a Leo water serpent and I am VERY much like what I am described as. ALSO I have found that eastern astrology is good at determining the dynamics of personal and other relationships with others better than western astrology.

Also I have found that a LOT of people want to charge a LOT of money to do horoscopes. Also the general horoscopes are useless. What we should ALL to is go over to

My birthday is on Dec 19 1984 (sign: rat, western sign: Sagitarrius, month: pig, day: pig, hour: ox). The previous posting has clearly stated that rat and horse don't work and looks like will never work. I love this guy very much and we even considered marriage. I'm an Earth-sheep Pisces (1979), he is a Fire-Tiger/Capricorn (1986). I haven't heard fantastic things about sheep/tiger relationships but many of our other signs are compatible (me - venus in Cap, Cancer rising, Taurus moon, Pisces in mars, : him - venus in Scorpio, Aries rising, Virgo moon, Pisces in mars). It's very slow going as we're just starting out and he's being Capricorn-cautious (and I'm being patient as he's worth having), but it really interests me how all the long-term relationships I've ever seen of others have had compatible Chinese signs and ours are only so-so.

i have read in several places that in china having children in the year of the tiger is discouraged for fear that one might have a girl. and that female tigers are hard to "marry off" and that when women are cold or bitchy or bitter or mean they are said to be "old tiger ladies".

i love being a lady tiger. i find myself the epitome of the feminine divine. warm and sensitive, honorable and just ,alluring and captivating, protective and domineering a born leader. i treat my subjects, suitors and captives with the utmost care grace and hospitality when in the tigresses layer, lol, HA HA HA. but seriously, i have had one ot two relationships where i could sense that the guy was intimidated by me and then i attempted to shrink so that he felt big and i could feel more feminine. yeah that worked for like five minutes, lol!!! i am now just being my passionate, assertive and regal self so that i can make room for the man who truly thinks enough of himself to handle comapanioning me. !!!! a Scorpio earth horse!!!! i just have two words...AHHHH, YUM!

Rat year is terrible for horses

It is said that horses will have a terrible time in the year of the rat, and coming from the Far East where most of the teachings on Chinese zodiac are usually taught in Mandarin, following that some of the predictions, etc still take on the traditional fatalistic tone (just as Western astrology has been at one time). Also when most of the knowledge has actually been translated from Mandarin to English, some of the tone and intention may get lost in translation.

I find it hard for fellow horses to figure out how to ride the wave (instead of resisting potential changes, etc then there will be conflict, etc).

Any opinions from horses or rats? Others?

The year 4706 in the Chinese lunar calendar – Year of the Earth Rat -- began on February 7th, 2008. In general we should find ourselves concerned with the economy since the Rat is known as a money lover and a collector. Much of the upcoming year will be spent paying attention to important details, especially in our financial affairs. However, not all signs will influenced in the same way, since some of them are compatible with the Rat while others are not.

The twelve signs of the Oriental zodiac, like the twelve signs of the western zodiac, are divided into four triangles of compatibility. The three members of each triangle share common personality traits. Therefore the signs of each triangle will have similar experiences during any given year. Keep in mind that the rising sign, determined by the hour of birth, strongly influences one's compatibility with other signs, therefore it must be considered to get a clear picture of the changes the upcoming year will bring. Here then are my expectations of the spirit and influence of the coming Year of the Rat on each of the members of the 4 triangles of compatibility.

TRIANGLE 1: RAT, DRAGON, MONKEY (the power signs)

Every site on Chinese Astrology I've visited so far says that every day is divided into 12 parts,and the exact same couple of hours are governed by the exact same sign every day. Clear, so far.
But I could never get why the hour of birth is to be considered at local time. If the same sign-say Rooster-always governs the 17:00-19:00 interval, shouldn't it be the same, regardless of what corner of the world u were born in?
It would make sense to me that the hour of birth be converted into universal time, before checking the Chinese Horary Ascendants Table. Same hours means the same day for everyone. Any thoughts?

I'm a 52 year old Wood Sheep, in terms of compatibility are these questions related. I see I was born in the year element of wood but the sheep’s general element is earth. How do these conflicting elements work in any potential relationships and what’s the stronger element in this case? I have been told that the best relationship for me is water or fire rabbit or pig. That doesn’t leave much room in who’s best available for me except a 44 year old woman. I was told wood isn’t a good match for wood as it’s the same but I have read on a post that that might not be a clash or conflicting and might be good, so is there a problem with similar elements i.e. wood and wood? what are everyones ascendants? as in the animal aspect according to the hours of birth, which some would say is more accurately described as the shadow self as opposed to the classical western concept of the ascendant

For example, I was born between 11 PM and 1 Am, the hours of the Rat, so I'm a Tiger/Rat, which is why I hope to fare better than most Tigers in the year of my archnemesis the Monkey, since Rats are part of a friendship/compatability trine with the Monkey and the Dragon. Knowing your ascendant helps in relationships too when you know the others ascendant.
