Hey! I'm a fire dragon as well. Yes, indeed, MAJOR changes, and good ones at that. A bit more than 6 months ago, I did not expect the life I have right now...

Oh, and so what is this Year of the Dog supposed to me for us Dragons, anyway? Bad, because it's directly opposite 6 years?

Same here. Lots going on in this fire dragon's life. I heard that dog years are hard for dragons...I know the past year has brought about more changes than I saw coming, but it started in 2005 for me and I tend to put it down to the lovely phenomenon known in western astrology as Saturn Return. I don't know if Chinese astrology has a similar phenomenon or not...

whether good or bad is all realitive to how you look at it. Dogs are supposed to antaginize dragons by nipping at their tails and yapping about changes. I find it spurs me on to greater heights and fast developement. When things are too calm dragons tend to snore and get complacent. Dog years are usually full of challenges so what better time to rise up and thrash about. I myself am an old water dragon but have a good basic balance of all the elements, which is what we should all strive for no matteer what your sign. Fire, water, earth, air and spirit all in harmony makes for a strong being. It gives one more options to draw from at the appropriate time.
We dragons need to be preping for 2012, the Mayan calander pivots in the year of the water dragon. Coincedence??? I think not what better time to find the strengths of emotions and spirit to overcome the present brainless patterns. It.s gonna take strong dragon hearts to lead the way......................

Listen up all you Dragons -- this is the year of the Dog -- worst one for the Dragon!! We just finished the MONTH OF THE DOG IN THE YEAR OF THE DOG so I'm not surprised that you've had a tough time of late.
With the new moon (last Saturday night), We started the month of the Pig -- fitting that Halloween should be in that month -- so things should lighten up for you within the next 2 weeks. Don't expect miracles because the year of the Dog doesn't end until February 18th 2007 -- the latest date on which New Years can occur in the Oriental calendar.
Add to the fact that you're in the DOG HOUSE -- that it's on FIRE!!!! This year is a FIRE DOG YEAR -- and -- are you ready? -- NEXT YEAR IS FIRE PIG!! Gonna smell like bacon frying all year.
Don't lose hope -- hang in for another 3 weeks when things'll get even better when we start the FIRST OF 2 MONTHS OF THE RAT on November 21st (next New Moon). Rat and Dragon are best buddies so you should feel some positive energy wafting your way. This is a leap year in the Oriental calendar (an extra month is added to catch up with the solar calendar) -- and this year's extra month is a month of the Rat. You get 8 weeks of respite before taking on the OX MONTH. Then we'll celebrate New Years in Fire Pig.
By the way, George Bush is a Fire Dog. Listen to him speak -- he barks -- 3 word phrases -- woof, woof, woof -- stay the course -- cut and run --- arf, arf, arf.

An extra month? What does this mean for a metal rat?

I thought the leap month was over? We had a double seventh month back in August this year.

My goodness, this year has been tumultous for me too. It started to get bad for me in July. I managed to enjoy most of the winter/spring and until after my birthday in may it was like BAM!

Major upheaval is about the best phrase to describe it all. So we all have until late november until this hellish period ends? Anyone starting to see things turn up for them?

      Dear Dragons,

Take some consolation in that the year of the fire Dog is tough for everyone. This year is one in which we all are called to sort out moral issues, allow good or evil to prevail and generally reset our supernatural clocks (I put that last one in because I just know that Dragons are going to say, "WTF???").

The last fire Dog was 1946-47. Get a history book and read about the end of WWII, the beginnings of Israel, the formation of the UN, the start of the Greek Civil War, war trials in Nuremburg and Tokyo. I think you'll agree that this fire Dog has been less spectacular but probably just as uncomfortable.

Please also keep in mind that we've recently (Oct 17th) gone through a Cosmic Trigger Event and that our heart chakras are just a wee bit more open now. Suspend judgement. (Yes, I fully realize that one of the most prevalent Dragon traits is to judge everything, and harshly.) Love more with less care.

      Sincerely,
      Your Snaky Pal.

        Patrick,

your comments on the fire dog was very interesting. Any other words of wisdom for this fire dragon that's having a tough (to say the least) year...

Moral issues have certainly come to the limelight for me. It's been a trying year, but staying patient and allowing "good and evil" to prevail and laying low has certainly helped me to stay grounded and ride through the past several months.

I have read the the coming Year of the Pig is a time for dragons to draw a line in the sand and move on as new opportunities are in the horizon.

So dragons stay strong! It's only a few more months... and we can look forward to the new year in 2007.

And I thought I was the only one going through this....

well it's nice to see some company.

Like Patrick said, we are learning about ourselves this year through our challenges, any ideas on what we should be preparing for next year?

Well, next year is a fire Pig. Dragons do much better in Boar years than they do in Dog years. In fact, things should level off quite a bit, although you may still have some monetary or career problems that are really hangovers from the Dog.

Pig years in general are more laid back-let's have a party type years and the fire Pig may be a raucous-let's get it on party. The fire in this Piggy will amplify emotions-be sure you're done with your Doggy business before the Pig comes to visit or the party may not be much fun for Dragons.

Cosmic Trigger Event indeed!! Tell me more about this! Everything was going pretty well this year for me, until late October. Then things fell apart, got me questioning my relationships with friends, lovers, family. Suspend judgment? -- until when?! Birthday twin Patrick, please advise! I've posted my info before, but I'll post again.

I don't know if I am a Fire Dragon, but I was born in 76' Dragon Year. And yes this year has been pretty bad, major events happened that crippled my goals for 6 months. Someone died that I was quite close to. The best years of my life that I can recall were, 1994, 1998, 1999 & 2003.

Hey Abe, yeah that is a fire dragon year. Actually those events with trauma and crisis just ask us to dig deeper and find things we wouldn't develop when things go smooth. I know they hurt, but they also help change our outlook and widen our perspective too. The year of the Pig starting Feb 18th sgould be easier on everyone, but dragons usually have their work cut out for them in any given year. Hang in there and remember that dragons are magical....................e

i'm learning to rest in my greatness. to accept that i am......different..........more than others...............and yet am no more or less.....................i'm learning that the lonliness or lack of connection with others that we feel isn't to make us sad, it's our individuality-our strength....we're the only sign that man has no tangible proof of its existence, yet all the world has revered or feared us................i've learned that the 'fire' to push for what i 'know' in spite of what others tell me is natural for a dragon, especially fire dragons. i've learned that the natural heat that surrounds us can be too hot for those around us, and it's not our 'fault'. Fire can make water heat to the point of boiling and evaporation, cause earth to harden and struggle to bring forth life, melt metal. It can even cause winds to blow with dangerous heat......our challenge is to learn to measure our flame, and not be consumed by it, for fire can rage so strong that it consumes everything, including itself...........

I think these challenges are here to build and shape our character..to test our strength and to make us stronger. Live and learn Right!

I agree dragon. our challenge is to not allow our fire to consume us or burn out of control, yet forge a stronger self. we're like the phoenix, it has to be engulfed in flame to be reborn to greatness........

    hallo fellow fire dragon :)
You're not alone. It's been a heckuva year for this fiery fire breather too. and i consider myself rather calm these days. I've had to really use the water of my western aquarius to keep from reigning flame and brimstone on the world. It's truly been a dog eat dog year for us. I thought it was just me too, dragon, as is our solitary nature. i've taken the time to seek knowledge, as is our nature, and found a den of dragons YAAAAh!. I've had a 11 yr relationship and career take a dive this year, as well as finding myself having to depend on too many people who can't be like us dragons and handle adversity. I find i feel like i'm heading into the calm after or before the storm now. i want to focus on making this smoked bacon year work for me instead of against me.
We're always told that a core of steel is forged by fire, so i figure those of us born from and fueled by fire will have to learn not to feed into our superiority but be humble in our greatness. Does that make sense to you guys?
Fellow dragons, gather close to me now. i've realized you must surround yourself with true reflections of yourself, and this dragon needs a den. I'm sharing a cave with a dog and a monkey.........

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for letting me know that I'm not going crazy like I thought I was. =) I've had an unbelievable two years that really made me wonder what the heck was going on! I've been on a roller coaster ride from hell it seems and reading all of your discussions on this sight has brightened my outlook for the rest of the year and beyond because I know now what is happening. I am a fire dragon and I love it! Thanks!
